To make a day of it
Burg Neuhaus stands in Wolfsburg (Wolfsburg), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 14th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Neuhaus stands in Wolfsburg on a sandstone outcrop once ringed by the waters of the Hehlinger Bach. Built in just two years in the 14th century on the orders of Duke Magnus the Younger, it was meant to counterbalance the nearby Wolfsburg, then held by the von Bartensleben family. Its square layout, twenty-metre keep and the hall building with its knights' hall make it one of the best-preserved moated castles in northern Germany. Its history spans medieval sieges, a later life as an agricultural estate, and, under the Nazi regime, use as a training school for the Reich.
