To make a day of it
Schloss Fallersleben stands in Wolfsburg (Wolfsburg), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
In the Fallersleben district of Wolfsburg, a castle overlooks the Schlossteich pond, situated close to a historic brewery and the parish church of St Michael. Duke Francis of Brunswick and Lüneburg had it built from 1520 onward, with his widow Clara of Saxe-Lauenburg overseeing the completion of the work by 1551. Of the original horseshoe-shaped complex, only the Kavaliershaus and the timber-framed west wing have remained standing. Today the building serves as a museum honoring Hoffmann von Fallersleben, the author of the Deutschlandlied, and its upper floor displays paintings created by his son Franz.
