To make a day of it
Burg Neu-Langenau stands in Rhein-Lahn-Kreis (Rhein-Lahn-Kreis), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
Burg Neu-Langenau is a ruin set on a slate ridge above Schloss Langenau, between Nassau and Weinähr in the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis, Rhineland-Palatinate. Construction began around 1350, undertaken by the co-heirs of Langenau with the backing of Count Johann of Nassau-Merenberg, to replace a lowland stronghold that could no longer withstand improved siege techniques. Captured in 1356 by troops of the Archbishop of Trier, it was torn down following a 1359 peace treaty that forbade any rebuilding on the spot, and the ruin still shows the marks of a deliberately levelled fortress. Its exact location, long lost through conflicting accounts, was only properly documented again in 2015.
