Burg Montclair is a medieval castle ruin overlooking the Saarschleife, perched on a wooded ridge encircled by the winding Saar, in Mettlach, in the Landkreis Merzig-Wadern, in Saarland. The site saw a Celtic rampart, then a Frankish motte called Skiva, followed by an earlier stronghold known as Alt-Montclair, destroyed in 1351, before the ruin visible today was built. Its position on a narrow spur several kilometres long made it a key point for controlling river traffic in the Middle Ages. The ruin stands at around 290 metres above sea level, surrounded by largely untouched forest.
