To make a day of it

Schloss Dagstuhl stands in Wadern (Landkreis Merzig-Wadern), in Saarland, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Dagstuhl is an 18th century manor house built in 1760 at the foot of the ruins of an older medieval castle, near Wadern in Saarland. The de Lasalle von Louisenthal family, who owned it for over a century, extended it around 1905 in neo-Gothic style, adding the tower that still links the main house to the chapel. The chapel itself was decorated by Octavie de Lasalle, known as the Painter Countess, who created a Stations of the Cross and an altar painting there. Since 1990 the building has housed a computer science research center and is not run as a conventional tourist site.
