To make a day of it
Burg Jungnau stands in Jungnau (Landkreis Sigmaringen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Jungnau survives only as its keep, standing on a rocky knoll in the heart of Jungnau village, next to St Anna's church, in a district of Sigmaringen. Of the former stronghold that later became a residence, only this eighteen-metre tower escaped the demolitions of the 19th century. Its pointed-arch entrance, set twelve metres up, and walls three metres thick still hint at the stronghold it once was.
What to know
- Only the keep remains from the medieval complex, also known as the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm, the rest having been torn down in 1842 and 1844.
- The site sits right in the village of Jungnau, next to St Anna's church, so it is best seen while walking through the village.
- No verified information exists about opening hours, admission fees, or an organised interior visit.
- The former site of the residential hall and granary now houses a school and town hall.
