Burg Ettensberg is a ruined medieval castle overlooking the Iller valley, on a wooded spur southwest of Blaichach in Bavaria. Likely founded in the late 11th century as the seat of a ministerialis serving the Augsburg diocese, it later came under the Counts of Montfort, who placed bailiffs there, and in the 15th century served as a widow's residence for Countess Beatrix of Montfort. Abandoned as early as 1564, it now retains only scant, badly deteriorated foundation remains, freely accessible via a narrow ridge connecting the site to the mountain behind it.
What to know

- Access is free and unrestricted at all times, with no opening hours or admission fee.
- The slopes surrounding the spur are steep on several sides, so caution is advised.
