To make a day of it
Burg Dohna stands in Dohna (Landkreis Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Dohna Castle survives only as fragments of wall on the Schlossberg hill, above the town that bears its name in Saxony. For roughly two hundred and fifty years it served as the seat of the burgraves of Dohna, who used the site to oversee the trade route running from Saxony into Bohemia. Captured by the Wettins after a siege in 1402, the stronghold lost its military role and gradually fell into ruin, with townspeople reportedly taking stone from it over the following centuries. Visitors today find a ruined hilltop site overlooking the Müglitz valley rather than an intact building.
