To make a day of it

Bomhof stands in Lügde (Kreis Lippe), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

The Bomhof is a small circular earthwork located about 900 metres southeast of the Herlingsburg, on a terrace at 200 metres above sea level near Lügde. Of the roughly 400 square metre enclosure, only remnants of the rampart survive today. Excavations carried out in the early twentieth century and again in 2012 never settled the question of the site's original purpose, whether a Frankish watch post or a small medieval manor. It remains a destination for those interested in archaeology rather than a conventional castle visit.
