To make a day of it

Châtel de Theys stands in Theys (Isère), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 13th century, 14th century). No visits are on record for this building.

Perched on the slopes of the Belledonne range above the Grésivaudan valley, the Châtel de Theys preserves an early 14th century great hall whose painted walls depict the story of Perceval. Built in two phases, the older section between 1279 and 1283 and the second around 1325, the building retains much of its original fittings: an armorial fireplace, window seats, and latrines with their original painted wooden door. The grounds cover more than three hectares and are reached via the medieval access path.
