The château Levat is an 18th century pleasure house in Montpellier, built in the 1760s for the merchant Jean-David Levat, whose name it bears. Its neoclassical design shows in the rusticated stone façades and the terraced levels following the slope of the land. Inside, decorative plasterwork and door panels drawing on La Fontaine's Fables have survived. The building is now used by an architecture firm and is not open to visitors in the usual sense.
