To make a day of it

Château de Verchant stands in Castelnau-le-Lez (Hérault), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Château de Verchant, in Castelnau-le-Lez near Montpellier, began as a farming estate in the Hérault region before becoming a grand country house in the nineteenth century, set within a notable park. The property takes its name from Pierre Verchant, who bought it in 1582, while its present layout owes much to the Leenhardt family, who commissioned the Bühler brothers to design the grounds in the late nineteenth century. Bought in 2002, the estate underwent a lengthy restoration before reopening as a boutique hotel. Visitors today come less for a conventional heritage tour than to experience a historic park now woven into a working hotel domain.
