To make a day of it

Château du Waldeck stands in Leymen (Haut-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The ruins of Waldeck castle stand on the commune of Leymen, in the Haut-Rhin department, close to the Swiss border. Built on an elongated limestone rock shielded by a deep moat, it passed through several noble families before being left in ruins following the 1356 earthquake. Excavations carried out in 1881 unearthed numerous artefacts now held at the Basel museum. Visitors come here for the remains of a medieval stronghold set on a rugged natural site.
