Entouré d'un parc à l'anglaise, le Verger-au-coq est une construction de parti général allongé, composée de trois corps alignés de hauteur différente, dont la chapelle. Le logis comprend deux corps de bâtiment : au centre, le bâtiment du 18e siècle (daté 1737 sous le fronton de la porte) a les caractères des demeures des parlementaires rennais ; le pavillon de droite est probablement du 17e siècle, avec des adjonctions du 18e ou du 19e siècle ; la chapelle du 17e siècle renferme un retable de marbre et tuffeau du 17e siècle, provenant sans doute de l'atelier lavallois de Corbineau et classé objet mobilier ; la cour est limitée à l'est par l'aile des dépendances ; un porche permet d'accéder à la cour des dépendances fermée sur trois côtés. Le général Boulanger habita le Verger-au-Coq au 19e siècle (son grand-père, fabricant de chapeaux à Rennes l'avait acheté sous la Révolution).
