To make a day of it

Château du Sou stands in Lacenas (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Set at the bottom of the Morgon valley, west of Villefranche-sur-Saône, the château du Sou still displays its square fortified enclosure with round corner towers, built as a fortified house around 1369. Visitors can see a keep with corbelled turrets, a Gothic chapel holding carved figures, and above all a fortified gate bearing thirteen coats of arms linked to the Gaspard family, defaced during the Revolution. Built of the golden stone typical of the Beaujolais region, the estate now hosts weddings and receptions in its grounds, which include a medieval-style garden.
