What the French Ministry of Culture records

Très bel édifice du début du 16e siècle, édifié par Jean de Poumereux, grand maître d'artillerie de François Ier, qui unit des caractères défensifs aux influences de la première Renaissance. Au cours des siècles, le château subit des campagnes successives d'aménagement et de restauration. Suite aux dommages causés par la guerre de 1914-1918, le château fit l'objet d'une nouvelle campagne de restauration dès 1920 sous la direction d'Abel Mahieu. Le parc a été refait à la fin du 19e siècle.
