To make a day of it

Château du Mont-à-la-Vigne stands in Mézidon Vallée d'Auge (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century, 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

On a rise above the village of Monteille, overlooking the Vie valley, stands a residential block built in stone and timber framing during the 15th and 16th centuries. The complex still shows an enclosure flanked by four towers and moats, remnants of a house that played a part during the Wars of Religion. Long held by the Tesson family, the estate still belonged in the 18th century to the count of Tesson de la Viéville, lord of Monteille.
