What the French Ministry of Culture records

En 1387, les Anglais ayant occupé et pillé pour la troisième fois le bourg de Saint-Laurent, le Saint-Sacrement fut transporté en lieu sûr, au château de la Baconie qui, depuis cette époque, est appelé Lieu-Dieu. Château construit au début du 14e siècle, entouré de douves. Le pont-levis, les tours rondes aux angles, le corps de logis très élevé et la cour intérieure très étroite, témoignent de l'histoire guerrière de l'édifice. La restauration de 1878, a probablement multiplié les créneaux et mâchicoulis. Le pigeonnier de plan octogonal paraît avoir été construit au 17e siècle. Il repose sur huit colonnes et les fuies existent encore.
