To make a day of it

Château du Hohrupf stands in Lautenbachzell (Haut-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Hohrupf castle stands at 813 metres above sea level in the commune of Lautenbachzell, in the Haut-Rhin region. Its origins likely date back to the late 13th century, when Berthold von Steinbronn, abbot of Murbach, had this stronghold built to watch over the abbey. Today only a rectangular keep remains in ruins, the remnant of a site that served various purposes over the centuries, including as a prison in the 15th century and as a military observation post during the First World War.
