The Château du Fôt stands at the hamlet bearing its name, a few kilometres northeast of Aubusson in the Creuse département. Though medieval in origin, the building seen today results from a major reconstruction carried out in the early twentieth century by Antoine Jorrand, a tapestry manufacturer, following the restoration principles of Viollet-le-Duc. The site inspired a gouache painted by Maurice Utrillo in 1935. It can be glimpsed from the road that bypasses Aubusson to the east.
