At Crocq, on a spur in the Creuse at 770 metres, two stone towers linked by a curtain wall are all that remains of a 12th century stronghold built by Robert I, dauphin of Auvergne. Demolished on Richelieu's orders in 1632, the structure has kept its two half-round towers, each with two vaulted levels once reached by a spiral staircase whose lower shaft is still visible. Visitors mainly climb to the top for the view over the surrounding Auvergne and Creuse hills.
