To make a day of it

Château du Fort stands in Terre-de-Bancalié (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château du Fort stands beside the Dadou river, on a site that once controlled the passage between the viscounties of Lautrec and Paulin. Built in the 11th century as a defensive stronghold, it was repeatedly demolished and rebuilt before taking on its present troubadour Gothic appearance in the 19th century. Visitors can see a square main building flanked by two matching towers, triangular pedimented dormer windows, and false machicolations running along its facades.
