Château du Châtelard stands in Montagnieu (Isère), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 14th century, first half of the 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
In Montagnieu, in the Isère department, the château du Châtelard stands on a rocky spur above a stream, between two small valleys that once overlooked the Hien valley. Built as a fortified house in the 13th century and reworked several times through the 17th century, it still shows a round keep, retaining towers and a residential wing with a symmetrical façade and mullioned windows. It remains a private property, viewable only from outside its grounds.
