Château des évêques de Montpellier stands in Lavérune (Hérault), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 16th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
In Lavérune, on the outskirts of Montpellier, this former residence of the bishops of Montpellier stands within a park that was once among the largest in the Hérault region. The present building, rebuilt in the 18th century for successive bishops, retains from its 16th-century predecessor a fortified gate carved with heads, masks and foliage motifs. Inside, the music room spans two levels beneath ornate plasterwork depicting musical instruments, cherubs and hunting trophies. The upper floor now houses the Hofer-Bury museum, set within the former apartments.
