What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le domaine des Cartes existait déjà au 12e siècle. En 1105, il fut donné à l'abbaye de Marmoutier. Au 18e siècle est construit le château actuel, composé d'un bâtiment central se développant entre deux pavillons en légère saillie sur chacune des deux façades. Deux ailes le prolongent à l'ouest et à l'est. Les façades du corps de logis central sont divisées en trois travées par des pilastres soutenant, au-dessus de la travée médiane, un fronton triangulaire.
