Set within a hundred-hectare park combining a formal French garden and an English-style landscape, it is also remembered as the site of the 1788 assembly of the Dauphiné estates, often seen as a forerunner of the French Revolution. The building now houses the Museum of the French Revolution, and the estate is managed by the Département de l'Isère.
