To make a day of it

Château de Villevêque stands in Rives-du-Loir-en-Anjou (Maine-et-Loire), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Once a residence of the bishops of Angers, the Château de Villevêque now houses a museum built around the collection bequeathed by its last owner, Daniel Duclaux, to the city of Angers. The ground floor displays medieval sculptures, Flemish tapestries, enamels and ceramics, including an Annunciation Virgin attributed to Jacopo della Quercia. The site reflects its episcopal origins dating back to the 11th century, alongside later additions such as a set of columns brought from the Pyrenees in the 1960s.
