Standing in the heart of the walled town of Baugé-en-Anjou, this 15th-century hunting lodge was built for René of Anjou on the remains of an older fortress. Inside, a stone staircase rises beneath a palm-tree vault crowned with eight carved and painted keystones, alongside an oratory lit by 19th-century stained glass. The visit follows the life of King René through a series of themed rooms, ending in the attic space fitted out for a sound-and-light show.
