At Seiches-sur-le-Loir, the château du Verger survives only as a fragment of what was once a major early 16th-century residence, built for Marshal de Gié on his return from his Italian campaigns. Torn down at the end of the 18th century on the order of Cardinal de Rohan, only the entrance gatehouse and two towered buildings of the outer courtyard remain, visible from the road. It was here that the treaty was signed setting the terms for the marriage of the heiress of the Duchy of Brittany.
