In Tornac, in the Gard department, stands a square keep whose origins go back to the 11th century, built on a rocky outcrop that already served as a watch post in Roman times. The ruins visible today combine this ancient tower with 16th century additions, raised by Bermond de la Jonquière between 1549 and 1566 after he acquired the site. Burned down in 1792 and later sold off in pieces as national property, the site still bears traces of this turbulent past. It also served as a filming location in 2020 for a music video by singer Julien Doré.
