What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château bâti à l'époque du traité d'Amiens (1279) par l'évêque de Lectoure, Géraud de Monlezun. Il défendait la frontière des possessions anglaises. Le château possède un corps principal rectangulaire, sur lequel se greffent deux tours, alignées sur la façade sud. Le rez-de-chaussée est clos de tous les côtés, hormis d'étroites meurtrières. Il servait de magasin d'approvisionnement. Le premier étage devait servir de dortoir à la garnison ou aux serviteurs de l'évêque. Le deuxième étage servait de chambre à coucher, de salon, de salle à manger au chef de la troupe ou à l'évêque. La fenêtre à meneaux croisés percée au 15e siècle dans la façade nord, est la seule modification apportée à l'édifice d'origine.
