Set in the Gers countryside, the château de Lacassagne combines a 13th century medieval tower with additions made over the following centuries, up to the 19th. Its distinguishing feature is a room without equivalent in France: a hall reproducing, through paintings on canvas, the decor of the council chamber of the Grand Masters of the Order of Malta in Valletta. Commissioned in the 17th century by a Knight of St John of Jerusalem, it depicts the 1565 Siege of Malta across fourteen paintings.
