What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château appartenant à la chaîne de la défense militaire de la Gascogne, qui commandait sans doute une des entrées du village. Un castrum est mentionné dès 1270. Le corps de logis est flanqué de deux tours opposées. L'intérieur est partagé par un mur de refend dans le sens de la longueur. Le second niveau assurait la défense. Le troisième niveau constituait l'étage noble, abritant le logement du seigneur. Le quatrième niveau était défensif, avec chemin de ronde, crénelage, mâchicoulis et échauguettes. Le château était protégé par un mur d'enceinte.
