What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château fut la possession des vicomtes de Lomagne dont l'un d'eux en fit don à Sanche Garcie de Manas en 1285. Trois campagnes de construction sont visibles. A l'origine, le château devait être une salle, donjon aux murs très épais reposant sur une salle voûtée. Puis, il fut doublé par un vaste bâtiment dont le dernier étage est percé de mirandes desservies par un chemin de ronde. La défense était en outre assurée par une série de meurtrières. Au 17e siècle, fut édifié le massif occidental et des aménagements internes sans doute réalisés (escalier droit, pièces d'habitation, peintures...). Ces transformations se poursuivent au 18e siècle.
