La maison-forte, bâtie au 13e siècle ou au début du 14e siècle, se dresse à l'écart sur un petit escarpement rocheux, au sud du village, et domine le paysage environnant. Prise et incendiée en 1569 par les troupes huguenottes de Montgomery, elle ne se releva semble-t-il jamais véritablement de ce désastre.
