The château de Roche stands on a rocky spur above the Loue river, in Arc-et-Senans in the Doubs department. The present building dates from the 18th century, commissioned by the Marquis de Grammont, on the site of a medieval stronghold first recorded in the 10th century. Two square towers topped with imperial-style roofs flank the façade, and old vaulted cellars beneath the towers lead down toward the river. The estate is also a working vineyard, with vines replanted on the surrounding slopes.
