To make a day of it

Château de Préaux-Saint-Sébastien stands in Livarot-Pays-d'Auge (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Standing opposite the Saint-Sébastien church in the town of Livarot-Pays-d'Auge, this Calvados château combines the remains of an old feudal estate with a main building erected during the reign of Louis XV. Two round seventeenth-century towers, topped with conical roofs and pierced with windows framed by prismatic ridges, flank the north gable of the residence. In front of the house stands a circular dovecote nearly 30 metres across, its walls alternating salmon-pink brick and limestone. The whole property has been listed as a historic monument since 1927.
