Le château de Penvern est construit pour François du Perenno dans les années 1750-1770, sur les bases du manoir primitif du 15e siècle. L'aspect un peu sévère de la façade antérieure évoque l'influence des ingénieurs militaires oeuvrant à Lorient. Le logis occupe le fond d'une cour close de murets à piliers au sud et à l'ouest ; une chapelle et un pavillon de garde cantonnent la cour à l'ouest et à l'est. Le château conserve son environnement de jardin en terrasses, jardin régulier, allées en patte d'oie, étang et lavoir.
