To make a day of it

Château de Paray stands in Bessay-sur-Allier (Allier), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second quarter of the 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Bessay-sur-Allier, the château de Paray presents a quadrangular main building flanked by two pavilions, built in the second quarter of the 17th century on the site of a former feudal mound. Its brick façades with diamond-patterned brickwork, characteristic of the Sologne bourbonnaise, surround a courtyard lined with outbuildings. Inside, a carved fireplace depicting Ceres and Bacchus and mural paintings in the drawing room reflect the refinement of an early 17th century manor.
