To make a day of it

Château de Noaillac stands in Penne-d'Agenais (Lot-et-Garonne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 15th century, 16th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

At Penne-d'Agenais, the château de Noaillac is built around a 13th century keep enclosed within buildings enlarged during the Renaissance and later altered through the 17th century. Visitors can make out a hexagonal stair tower, a 16th century chapel, remaining sections of the ramparts, and an old dovecote raised on stone columns. The estate passed through several noble families, including the Vivans, marquises de Noaillac, before remaining with a single family for nearly two centuries after the Revolution.
