Ce château d’origine médiévale fut soumis à des travaux d’envergure de 1884 à 1893. Bâti selon un plan rectangulaire, il est hérissé de tours carrées sur l’élévation principale et de tours rondes du côté des douves. Lucarnes, tourelles en encorbellement, bandeaux et balustrades ajourées accentuent le côté troubadour de cet édifice. De style éclectique, oscillant entre le gothique et la Renaissance, la demeure fait partie de ces châteaux édifiés au 19ème siècle, pendant la période prospère du Second Empire et de la Troisième République. Il se distingue par la qualité de son décor sculpté et le faste de son hall d’entrée avec son escalier théâtral.
