In the town of Huisseau-sur-Cosson, in the Loir-et-Cher department, the château de Nanteuil stands on the bank of the Cosson river, at the end of a seigneurial history that goes back to the twelfth century. The current building, erected in the eighteenth century on earlier foundations and altered in the nineteenth, retains its two-storey main range with eight bays and its entrance framed by columns beneath a triangular pediment. The place also holds the memory of its twentieth-century owners, who were involved in the French Resistance and deported during the Second World War, and received a private visit from General de Gaulle in 1949. It remains a privately owned château today.
