The estate recalls the painter Edgar Degas, who stayed on the first floor as a guest of the Valpinçon family after they bought the property in 1823, and whose studio still stands in a brick pavilion. Around the main house lies a park crossed by water features, including a basin known as la poire, together with a group of nineteenth century farm buildings, stables, cart shed and washhouse, that once made the estate self sufficient.
