Château de Martigny-le-Comte stands in Martigny-le-Comte (Saône-et-Loire), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Set on a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside of the Charolais region, the château of Martigny-le-Comte shows the neo-Gothic profile given to it by the Comte de Beaumont in 1878, built over the remains of an older fortified castle. Its L-shaped plan, corner towers and horseshoe-shaped outdoor staircase reflect this nineteenth-century reinvention more than a vanished medieval past. Trimmed hedges and gardens surround the building, beneath its steep slate roofs.
