Château de la Salle stands in La Salle (Saône-et-Loire), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
In La Salle, in the Saône-et-Loire department, two separate castles share the same name: a medieval keep overlooking the Mouge valley, and a residence built around 1870 a few hundred metres away. The older site retains a square tower with walls over a metre and a half thick, along with an attached Gothic chapel. The newer building, commissioned by François Bonnardel and overseen by Lyon architect Charles-Marie Franchet, is notable for its two outbuildings and monumental gateway.
