The château de Satonnay stands in the hamlet of Satonnay, in the commune of Saint-Maurice-de-Satonnay in Saône-et-Loire. Built in 1589 by Philibert de Musy, it belonged to the Chevriers Saint-Mauris family and later to the Barny de Romanet family, whose son Bernard, a First World War flying ace, was born there. The present buildings, altered over time, surround an almost square courtyard flanked by five round towers rebuilt following the layout of the originals. A tree-lined drive leads to a gate framed by two stone lions carved in the 18th century.
