To make a day of it

Château de Maison à Bar stands in Tannay-le-Mont-Dieu (Ardennes), in the Grand Est region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The Maison à Bar is a former fortified farmhouse set among the damp pastures of the Mont-Dieu area in the Ardennes. This long building, partly surrounded by moats, retains a square tower with a bretèche that once defended the drawbridge, along with narrow, sparse openings reflecting its defensive purpose. Built around the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries for the nearby Carthusian monks, it was used for livestock farming, fishing and river trade toward the Meuse.
