To make a day of it

Château de la Cassine stands in Vendresse (Ardennes), in the Grand Est region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Château de la Cassine stands in ruins in the hamlet of the same name, in the commune of Vendresse, in the Ardennes. Built in 1571 on the initiative of Louis IV of Nevers, it was altered during the 19th century by the Camion and later Cunin-Gridaine families, heirs of the ironmaster Jean-Nicolas Gendarme. A fire in 1927 left it in the state of ruin it remains in today, as it was never rebuilt. The grounds now host a sound and light show.
