Seigneurie connue depuis le milieu du 11e siècle, décrite dans un aveu de 1720 avec château, cours, écuries, tours, murailles, pont-levis, douves et fossés en eau, terrasses et chapelle. Les différents bâtiments ont connu de nombreuses transformations au cours des siècles (donjon modifié au début du 16e siècle, logis de la fin du 16e, communs du 18e). Ces éléments dénotent l'évolution architecturale de cette région du nord de la Mayenne.
