Built in the mid-17th century by Charles de Froulay on the site of an older seigneurial residence, it remained in the same family, the Froullay, for generations before passing by marriage to the Talleyrand-Périgord and Montmorency families. Its style is restrained, almost austere, broken only by dormer windows and a clock tower pavilion.
